If you use outlook then its compulsory for you to know details of this application such as its limitation, how to avoid getting problems, about its both (.pst) and (.ost) file because it will help you to handle the problems and you can use it better. Sometime user send the email with some attached file which size is more than the limit and due to this issue email sending stopped. Microsoft office outlook versions like 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013 etc use UNICODE personal folders (.pst) and offline folder (.ost). There are four registry files which limit the size of both (.pst and .ost). They are given as-
The MaxFileSize registry entry
The WarnFileSize registry entry
The MaxLargeFileSize registry entry
The WarnLargeFileSize registry entry
The given registry keys help to configure the size limit for both (.pst) and (.ost) files in Outlook. The MaxfileSize specify the absolute size of .ost and .pst files. So if the outlook reached to this limit then you can’t grow. The WarnFileSize specify the data which can be supported by both .pst and .ost files. When it also reached to its limit then you can’t grow the size of outlook files but the physical data size can still grow up. MaxlargeFileSize and WarnLargeFileSize both support the UNICODE format but MaxFileSize and WarnFileSize support ANSI format which is in MB (megabyte).
If you modify the given registry files then you can configure the size limit of pst in file in outlook or you can also configure the size limit of ost file in outlook.
If you have not the detailed knowledge then don’t try to modify the registry because it can be problematic. The best option is to backup the registry file then try to change. Follow the given steps to backup the registry file-
